Hi Poppy

I'll be interested in the answer to this too - it is my next option if Humira doesn't work! Although so far so good (3 weeks in!)

I would say very definitely do NOT drive yourself home. I have a couple of friends on Rituximab - one is reasonably OK afterwards, the other is not. Not trying to scare you here, but it would be just dreadful if you got partway home and then felt dizzy etc.

Take care

HI PoppySmile

I'm with Jean, go for the lift if you can- the hospital could organise hospital transport if you arent able to.

The thing is, some people feel really grotty afterwards (some totally fine- there was a lady next to me last wk having it, she is very well on it and never has a single side effect)

Hi Poppy the others are spot on, DON'T drive yourself home, I've had two rounds of this , first time felt fine but very tired and a bit spaced out, two weeks later not so tired, but partner wouldn't let me cook when I got home as he said my reactions were slow, I hadn't noticed this but think he was right. Second round felt much livelier but didn't drive as I didn't trust that me feeling fine was actually being safe to drive. Plus the fact that to park all day at the hospital costs a small fortune here. See if you can get someone to collect you afterwards.
Good luck with the infusion and hope it works for you.
Love
Sheila

Hi Poppy,
Sounds like you are a bit down, and I don't blame you , its horrible when you are given hope and then drugs don't work, I also failed on Humira and Enbrel and had such high hopes for them, but just to give you some hope I had a round of Rituximab and althoug it didn't give the complete results I'd hoped for and took some while to kick in it did improve things a little. The consultant said that often a second round of it six months later helps so I had another round six months ago, that kicked in quicker and I then had 3 whole months without a flare and could do things that made life much more pleasant like going out with firends, a bit of decorating, managed all my own Christmas shopping etc, quite a feat for me. Over the past few weeks though I've been total cr** with another flare so had both knees drained yesterday and steriod injections and an increase in the prednisolone. Good news is I've been booked in for a third round hopefully in the next few weeks and consultant seems to think repeated doses of the Rituximab will help.
So just to say there is hope, maybe the Rituximab might be brilliant first time round for you, and if not a second round is possible. The wretched nuscience is the time it takes to tell what work and what doesn't and the worry over damage being done, especially when you are young (I'm fifteen years older than you but have only had RA 3 and a bit years.
Fingers crossed that it will work for you and hope you can have a good weekend.
Love
Sheila
